Miles. About.

HTML was my gateway drug into the world of coding. I discovered CSS soon after while experimenting with other peoples’ source code on the web. I learned from them how to do all those cool Web 2.0-ish things people were doing in those days. I also developed a healthy dislike for Internet Explorer.

Blogs became big and I realized that HTML and CSS was just not enough. I needed a harder drug, a real programming language.

I taught myself PHP by reading the PHP.net documentation and the source code of the WordPress blog engine. I was already a habitual user of SQL, so I combined PHP with a MySQL database. It just stoked my appetite for more.

As for my personal life, I’m married to a beautiful wife. We have one son, my namesake, we were born on the same day—how cool is that? I’m pursuing a graduate degree in biology at UC Irvine, but I’m obsessed with programming.
